Can Christian Speaking be treated as a Business?

The answer is YES! The world is full with people who have not knocked into their true potential!  We are a globe with millions and millions of individuals wandering in confusion, asking the question of questions. “What should I be doing?”  In the Bible the Israelites spent 40 years wandering around the desert and circling the same mountain again and again.  How could this be? Ever felt the same way?


Ever felt like you are not getting anywhere in life, like you have been going through the waves and you know you are just not where you are supposed to be?  It’s frustrating!  You are certain there is more; you know that you have talents, gifts and a whole bunch to offer.  You are just not sure where to go or how to get started.  Ever felt that way?  I have!

Is what we do a business, or is it a ministry? It’s a constant struggle, isn’t it? It’s interesting how often Christians see these two things in difference. We think that if it’s a ministry, it can’t make money and we can’t use it to feed our families. It has to be something that we do totally selflessly. Our jobs, on the other hand, are our businesses.

I think this is a false split, because Jesus never encouraged us to disconnect off the different pieces of our lives. Whatever we did, we were to do it for Him. So if you speak, you speak for Him. But that doesn’t mean that you cannot make money at it, especially because most of us do need to get an income from somewhere, unless you happen to be blessed with a rich inheritance or something.

Paul is also clear in 1 Corinthians 9:14 where he says: “In the same way, the Lord has commanded that those who preach the gospel should receive their living from the gospel.” Why, because if we receive our living from it, we are able to dedicate a lot more time and energy to it. If it is simply a hobby, or something that we do for free, then we have to spend a lot of time at a different job that actually pays the bills.

Of course there may be times when we speak for free, especially when we are starting. We have to always be open to the Spirit. But I do not believe that ministry and business need to be separate. I think ministries work best when they apply sound business principles about getting the word out there, budgeting for marketing, not going into debt, and trying to be sustainable. What is a Christian Motivational Speaker?

What is a Motivational Speaker? A speaker is anyone who is paid to speak in front of an audience. A motivational speaker aims to motivate audience members to overcome challenges, achieve their dreams, and improve their life and well-being. Everyone needs a little motivation in their life to help overcome the everyday stress and struggles they have to deal with.

Learning to deal and cope with stress at home and in the workplace is one of the most common reasons for using motivational and inspirational speakers. Stress is dangerous to a person's health, overall performance, and quality of life.

As a speaker you will be able to motivate the audience on how to deal with stress and prevent it from taking over every aspect of their life. Your main goal as a speaker is to empower people to push through their struggles and live a better life. We all talk and we all speak everyday. A Talk is an inspirational message you bring to help people come to a position where they are open to hear God’s voice. Keep in mind; Speaking is not the same as teaching. It is important to remember this.

Even if you are a beginner, you may already have some speaking experience under your belt. For example, do you have the ability to communicate with the audience or have you ever:

2. A wedding presentation?
3. Trained a group?
4. Done a reading at your Church?
5. Spoken to a meeting?
